Allows Zenos yae Galvus to equip the Legatus of the XIIth appearance. Leader of the XIIth Legion and crown prince of the Garlean Empire, Zenos yae Galvus is possessed of but a single passion: to stand on the front lines, blade in hand, and dance with death. He regards friend and foe alike with contempt, and tales of his brutality against both have spread far and wide.
If you have some interest in the Garlean Empire like I do, you probably recognized the 'Galvus' surname that came up in the Japan FanFest Key Note. Zenos was described as being the primary anagonist for Stormblood, and thankfully there are some things his name can tell us, particularly alongside the lore encyclopedia.Firstly, like a lot of people will already know, Galvus is the surname of the former (Solus Zos Galvus) and current (Varis Zos Galvus) emperors of the Garlean Empire. Beyond just the name, Zenos' title 'Yae' represents 'an imperial prince, empress, empress dowager, and all other royalty in line to succeed the imperial throne.' I find this interesting when considering a portion of Varis' entry in the lore encyclopedia: 'Yet Varis did not become emperor without a fight.
Indeed, his uncle -the second son of Solus Zos Galvus- also laid claim to the throne, supported by one faction that opposed Garlemald's expansion policy and its mandate to eradicate the eikons. A war of succession ensued and Varis emerged victorious.'
This specifies that Varis is the great nephew of the former emperor and that he obtained leadership over the direct heir to the throne who was a presumed opponent of two primary concepts we know Garleans for: imperial Garlemald and eikon domination.I wonder where Zenos finds his loyalties. It seems there's some strife in the royal family, and seeing that Zenos is the new face of the enemy for Stormblood, I'm expecting a lot of insight into that conflict. Who is he in relation to Solus?
Will we find out who was Varis' unnamed uncle? TUNE IN JUNE 20TH, I suppose.i miss gaius van baelsar so much, hydrus just isn't the same #notmygaius. I'm a big supporter of the Legatus/Villain theory which suggests that each Garlean Legatus corresponds in some way to the villain from the Final Fantasy game that shares the same number as the legion they lead. So far we've seen:.
Regula of the VIth Legion (Sought the power of the Warring Triad on the Floating Continent, like Kefka). Nael of the VIIth Legion (Summoned a 'meteor' to cause mass destruction upon the planet, like Sephiroth). Gaius of the XIVth Legion (Original XIV villain)If this theory is to be believed, it suggests that Zenos Yae Galvus of the XIIth Legion would correspond to none other than Vayne Solidor. Which leads me to speculate the the following. Typical monarchic inheritance is likely a bit skewy, but if you use the current legal process in English law and some it's earlier historical tradition, inheritance could go a little sideways before it went down the lineage. That is, surviving male heirs get the throne before the previous heir's son does.
So you'd end up going through more of the Galvus brothers before it felt to the oldest son of the last surviving claimant. If Varis has any surviving brothers, that is. Only once they are gone, then would Zenos get to lay claim. Yeah, from what little we know of Zenos, we know he's likely a pretty loyal son.
It's said Varis has kind of cleaned house, and assigned people he absolutely trusts and he knows are loyal to crucial operations (Such as with Regula). That doesn't mean that Zenos still can't betray his father in a grasp for power though, but it remains to be seen. We do know that Zenos is likely going to be a pretty evil dude though, as Yoshida commented that a lot of players were talking about being sympathetic to the Empire and saying things like 'I want to join the empire, let us fight for them!' His comment implied that Zenos was going to be truly villainous, and I bet he's probably going to kill off at least one major character I reckon.
